In January 2017, the audit announcement option on the BSCI Platform was set by default as “semi-announced”, providing four weeks’ time for auditing companies to plan the audit, and another four weeks to conduct it. Following this development, as of 3 March a new change will be introduced in the system to shorten the time for auditing companies to plan an audit.
Developments introduced in January
As of 14 January 2017 the audit announcement option on the BSCI Platform was set by default as “semi-announced”, providing producers a four-week timeframe during which the audit would be conducted. Previously, all audit requests in the BSCI Platform were set by default as ‘’fully announced’’, allowing the producer to know the exact date on which they would receive an audit.
With this timeframe, auditing companies were given in total an eight-week time window (4+4) to handle the audit: an initial four-week period to plan it, starting from the day of the request; and another four weeks’ period to conduct it (timeframe communicated to the producer).
What changes now?
Taking recent feedback collected by the FTA secretariat into consideration, the BSCI Steering Committee has decided to shorten the time for auditing companies to plan the audit.
As of 3 March 2017, the audit timeframe will be shortened to six weeks (2+4). This means that the initial period provided to the auditing company to plan the audit has been reduced from four to two weeks. The following four-week window to carry out an audit remains unchanged.
